First English Mixed Curling Championship starts

The first English Mixed Curling Championship, sponsored by Clydesdale Bank, started today at Fenton’s Rink, near Tunbridge Wells. It is the first National Curling Championship to be held in England and on the first day it was proving to be successful. Concerns that the ice may be a little slow in the warm weather were unfounded and after the first two rounds of the three round contest to sort out the finalists the results are as follows:

Round One:

Wilson                   0 2 0 0 0 3 1 0         6

Hawker                   4 0 1 2 2 0 0 5         14

Grant                      0 0 1 0 2 0 0 X        3

MacDougall          4 3 0 1 0 4 4 X        16
