Our first cottage is a very fine example of a three-story town residence built in the fifteenth century and located in the heart of the ancient Old Town of Amersham. Being just a hundred yards from the Chiltern countryside and just over a mile from Amersham Underground and Railway station, this property is an ideal base for visiting London or the surrounding area. The interior of the property is quite exceptional, having been recently refurbished whilst retaining many period features including SIXTEENTH CENTURY WALL PAINTINGS possibly commemorating the first visit of Queen Elizabeth I to Amersham in 1592.

The property includes:

Ground Floor – Entrance lobby, dining room, fully equipped kitchen (with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing / drying machine, iron and will include basic items like tea and coffee, milk and breakfast cereals, etc ready for your arrival)

First Floor - Living room (with radio, audio tape, CD system with an "All Region" DVD player, with a small selection of DVDs, terrestrial TV and some board games, books and jigsaw puzzles), newly updated bathroom and third bedroom*

Second Floor - Main bedroom with ensuite shower room and FOUR POSTER BED, and second bedroom**

* Can be arranged as either four, three foot single beds or with a super king size bed and two three foot single beds.

Outside - Private garden with terraced area to rear. There is a parking space for one small car on the cobblestones directly in front of the house as well as an abundance of FREE street parking all along the High Street.

Local Activities

Apart from the historic paintings and local Old Town of Amersham, which has been the setting for many films including "Four Weddings and a Funeral", there are many historic houses and buildings in the surrounding area (Waddeston Manor, Cliveden, Hughenden Manor, Windsor Castle, Milton's Cottage, etc, to name a few), Whipsnade Zoo, within easy reach by car (under an hour's travelling time). In addition, the cottage is within a mile of Amersham Underground and Railway Station offering easy access to all the attractions of Central London. In the evenings, there are many quality restaurants and a choice of pubs within a few minutes walk.

This property is available to rent as a fully fitted holiday cottage. Rental costs are between £1000 and £1400 per week depending on the time of year. The normal changeover day is Friday. Bookings for weekends or stays of less than a week may be made up to two months in advance of the starting date, with a 10% discount for each day of the standard week's rental not used. A daily Maid Service can sometimes be arranged. For bookings over one week long, the linen will be changed on the Friday, unless an alternative day is arranged.
