Update of GB Team January 2006

On the 6th January the GB Paralympic Wheelchair Team went out to an outdoor curling competition at Coppa Romano Silverplana in Switzerland, we knew before going that we would not be improving ice play, as the team, apart from Frank, had never played on outside ice before. We wanted to build team dynamics and face negative thinking, which happened, and we got a lot of positive thoughts out of the trip, apart from the score, we ended up 4th Switzerland won!! I felt we had a very successful few days, managed to relax with spectacular views and various trips laid on for all six wheelchair teams, Doris did a wonderful job, and we can’t thank her enough.

Left Switzerland on Thursday 12th all refreshed and ready for action, arrived in London for a BPA workshop, and to get our kit, the team members all had medicals, try Kit on, get another photo for classification purposes and all to be done in a matter of a couple of hours, as we had to leave our hotel at 4.30pm to get into central London to visit the House of Commons, fabulous evening, met a whole lot of dignitary’s, plus the main sponsors Visa and Easyjet to name a couple, BBC was there and interviewed Frank Angie and Michael, got back ready for bed around 11.00pm

Early start next morning, signing agreements, listening to different speakers and got home that evening.

This weekend we are going to Forest Hills Aberfoyle, we are playing the Olympic team, 3 ends against Women, 3 ends against Men. It should be very interesting and challenging, once again the BBC are going to be there and other media interest.
